All of my favorite shampoos have sulfates in them. I’m confused because sulfates are known to dry out the hair. Natural hair seems to love natural products, but my 4b/4c hair is hurting for moisture. What should I do???

Thanks, I was told to use the NEX product while permed. So, you have tried it while natural and it worked? What is your hair type? I have been pre pooing with conditioners lately and I bought some sulfate free shampoo’s but havent tried yet because I am working on getting rid of my last bottle of sulfate shampoo. I think its called Puree, It is sold in Rite Aid. I heard it was good, I am waiting for a sale.
I put a small amount of shampoo in a bottle with a squirt cap on the end, add oils, and dilute with water and shake it up to use on my scalp ONLY. Also check out kimmaytube wash and detangle channel about putting shampoo then add conditioner together before washing your hair out. That way moisture wont leave your. Shampoo is designed to take something away, conditioner is designed to put back in. Hope this works for you.
Have you ever heard of uncle funky’s daughter. They have a shampoo that is natural and non drying.
Don’t know if you found anything. But Loeral makes a line called Everpure that is sulfate free. As a matter of fact it is vegan. Not I totally don’t like the conditioner. I use it as a co-wash, but the shampoo makes my hair so soft. And I sorta shampoo like you I only use it on my scalp.

I just say use what works for you, if it is not harming your hair to the point of breaking out, then use it. I use the suave professionals Aloe Vera and Ginsing and I add olive oil to it and it does not dry my hair at all. My hair is softer. So use what works for you, unless you can find a no sulfate one.!!!
I love my redken all soft products. When I say my hair loves that; it does. All those sulfate free shampoos I agree don’t make my hair soft; but it is clean. I rely on my conditioners for that. Also, you might wanna think about googling baking soda rinses as shampoo/ cleansing. Shampoo is for when your hair is dirty; how often is it dirty enough for shampoo. However cowashes with conditioners may be your new best friend. Try it out.
You can try spritzing it a bit if you want to two strand twist it dry.
Thank you so much….I will try the castille soap with olive oil. That may be my answer. As for the homeless guy, he never showed back up, but boy was I paranoid.LOL
Hey girl. the baby is gorgeousss! I used Giovanni for the first time last weekend. the leave-in conditioner and the conditioner. I LOVE IT. the conditioner softens really good and the leave in conditioner is thick, almost like a cream. I love it. As for shampoo, i use castille soap with added herbs. I good, gentle clean. i put a little olive oil in it and my hair comes out very soft. now i know im catiching this video late, but what ever happened with the homeless guy?
My eldest dtr has 4b/4c hair. We don’t like Giovanni Shampoos for her (they are drying). The Smooth as Silk Conditioner is a GREAT detangler, but 50/50 is a better moisterizer so we use both! For shampooing her hair I use a mix of the EO Orange and Honey mixed with the Hemp/Almond Dr. Bronner’s Castile liquid Soap. The mix is perfect because her hair and scalp get clean without the stripping. The EO is also a wonderful Pre-poo. We love the Lavender and Aloe. Check out my Detangling 4b/4c video!
i think is okay to use sulphate, as long as it does not irritate your skin, I have excema and dermatis, so SLS bother me. I used to use nexxus and pantee too, loved them, Aubrey works for me, you can also try baking soda or apple cider vinegar rinse.
I had a similar experience with Burt’s Bees. I have found that all natural moisture products are not intended for all hair types. DevaCurl and DevaCare No-Poo have worked well for me. I also like Giovanni deep moisture and instant leave in conditioners. Actually, after playing around, I use from one to three conditioners during my no-poo cleansing. For monthly cleansing, I use Kinky Curly cleansing cream.
Which ones in particular. I know the line is pretty extensive.
I use the Giovanni line, no cones, no sulphates. I love it. I got mine from Whole Foods for $4.99 a bottle. I wouldn’t give it up for anything that’s how much I love it. Just a suggestion if you’re trying to go all natural.
Ooooh girl, you got a good point.
The lady on Kimmaytube pointed out on a recent video that we don’t eat our shampoo and conditioners so we probably shouldn’t fret as much as we do. Check her out. Also signatureshirtz has very detailed information on her channel about ‘cones, sulfates, petroleum, mineral oil and others. She uses them because they work for her and other natural products do not. Check her out too. She loves the pantene range by the way.
Hey there. I’m thinking you should use the products that work for your hair. I’ve tried that Burt’s Bee’s shampoo and I found it more drying than my pantene shampoo ever was. I too am exploring natural products vs the other stuff. I think, sure, if natural products work well then it’s better to stick with them. But if your hair likes cone’s and sulfate containing products what are you supposed to do? Let your hair turn to twigs and break off? I don’t think so.
This is really cuuuute! ima try this today!
